2 Multiplay Or Not?

13 08 2009

I’m not a dude who buys a game and goes right online with it. I’m old school. I’m interested in the story. I like mastering the game mechanics before I jump into the crazy world of online play. I never understood how a dude could pay $60 for a game and only play one mode.

I value my doe a little bit more than that. $60 is a lot when you add up all the top notch games that come out throughout the year. There are those games that do multiplayer better than they do single player. For example Halo 2‘s story was a little flat and the gameplay was good…but online was insane when it came out.

Then you have games like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which gave you an excellent single player campaign, and a even more engaging multiplayer experience. That to me is worth $60 (if you’re going to play it). I love playing online sometimes. Yes, you have the occasional asshole/racist 10 year old…but in a game like Call of Duty…well…you just blow his ass away!

This is a message from a casual player to the developers of video games. Some of us value our dollars and enjoy the games you put out. Let’s even the playing field though. We don’t need games like Mercenaries 2, that give you a fun online game and a shitty single player experience. Give us our money’s worth in this “recession”. Peace…

Gone till November…

call of duty

My hype just went thru the roof on this one. Probably the most anticipated game of 2009 right now. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a beast! The first one had my attention for mad months (until Comcast’s bullshit connection made it a so so online experience). This game steps things up in every area. Below you will see the first gameplay trailer for multiplayer in the upcoming title. Get ready people…

Black College Football Xperience

12 07 2009
Separate But Equal?

Separate But Equal?

When I first heard about this I was a little upset. I am a longtime fan of EA Sports NCAA Football series, and I am also a H.B.C.U. (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Alumni. Morgan State University stand up! In the pass versions of NCAA Football, I was able to play as my alma mater (though they sucked). This was a way to manage the program my way and have my school compete for a national title.

Since the release of the “next-generation” systems like Xbox 360 and PS3, these schools (Division 1- AA) have been absent. Though the games have been good without them, it has been an incomplete experience for myself. Now we have Black College Football Xperience. A game that I am, somewhat, excited for.

This game is all about the culture of H.B.C.U. football. There is a rich history there that can make for a good game experience. Here is how the game’s creator Nerjyzed Studios describes it:

Band Mini-Games?

Band Mini-Games?

“It’s a cultural event featuring 36
teams from historically Black colleges and
universities, action-packed game play, and
interactive half-time shows.
The teams represent the Southwestern Athletic
Conference (SWAC), the Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association (CIAA), the
Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(SIAC), and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
(MEAC).
Gamers can compete against their favorite
teams and enjoy playing along with the drum
section or drum line. The game also includes
a Legends museum, an educational element
which features profiles about players who
graduated from historically Black colleges.”

I wonder about the gameplay though. Having an “H.B.C.U.” game is cool, but if the gameplay sucks…what’s the point? This is after all…a videogame. We shall see come July 20, 2009 when the game is released exclusively for the XBOX 360. Here is a trailer:

Splinter Cell: Conviction Video Preview

9 07 2009

This is looking better than I could have imagined! Can’t front, I was on Splinter Cell hard when it first came out. Then I fell off and didn’t even beat the first 3 games. The best in the series has to be Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory & Splinter Cell: Double Agent (I did beat that one). This takes the game in another direction gameplay wise.

I might have to put down the guap on this one. Here’s IGN’s preview of Splinter Cell: Conviction

The game is set to drop Fall 09′.

“Holy Polish Batman?!”

30 06 2009

For all the Batman heads, this may be the game you’ve been waiting for. I would have to say it’s looking pretty good. I played the demo in Gamestop a couple of weeks back. The game is not due out until August. Here is a video giving you a good look at the gameplay (Ignore the dickface talking..I did…lmao):

This is probably what a “Prime” Mike Tyson would have done to a “Prime” Lennox Lewis. Instead, Lewis knocked out an shell called Mike Tyson. Oh well, God bless videogames.

GameBone Pro

23 06 2009

Sooo, I’ve had an IPhone 2G for a while (unlocked & jailbroken). I just recently upgraded to the 3GS, and I love it (especially for the games). The games are hot, but the controls aren’t good for all of them. Well, here’s a company that wants to make it easier for us commuter gamers. Is it a solution? I don’t know. It sure as hell looks like some bullshit though. Here is the rundown:

The GameBone Pro features :

• Dual connectivity – Connect with Bluetooth wirelessly OR use the 30-pin dock connector cable
• 2000mAh Lithium-ion Battery for additional power for your iPod touch / iPhone*
• LED showing charging state and capacity
• 8-way D-Pad with 6 buttons
• Bluetooth button for pairing and status
• Built-in speakers, mic and 3.5 audio headphone jack
• “Made for iPod” and “Works for iPhone” certification**

Additional, the GameBone Pro will come with a iPod touch / iPhone stand supporting vertical and horizontal positions.

One of the reasons why I bought a IPhone was to eliminate all the gadgets I lugged with me everywhere. I’ll pass. Next?!

NBA LIVE 10 – LIVE is Back?

LIVE is back?! I think I’ll wait on that. Ever since NBA 2k came out on the Dreamcast, I knew LIVE’s days were numbered. While EA shopped gimmick after gimmick, 2k became more and more authentic to the game of basketball. Last year’s NBA Live 09 was the best game for them (this generation). Live 06 -08 were complete trash.

I’m the type of dude that would by both (2k & Live), but last year’s Live wasn’t enough for me to put the guap down on it. This year’s Madden NFL 10 is looking really good, so I can only hope that Live will come out the same. The pic above gets me amped about Live 10, until I see NBA 2k10 that is.

EA has a habit of building tremendous hype with screenshots and, ultimately, letting me down when I see the animations. 2k is unbeatable in the animation and presentation department (at least right now). Hopefully both games bring the heat in September.

Keep an eye out and stay thirsty my friends (lol)!
